VolleySim v1.0

VolleySim will revolutionize the way we train athletes. By utilizing digital technology, we will teach athletes to read the hitter's body language and train the brain on where to move for defense. There is no other product like this on the market. Visualizing and training the eyes on what to look for is key to success in all levels of play. “The premiere skill is the ability to see and read the game.”- Hugh McCutcheon, USA Women’s Olympic Coach, 2008 Olympics.

What is VolleySim?
VolleySim is a virtual training product for Volleyball Players and Coaches in order to visualize specific decision making aspects of the game of volleyball. Our top priority is to ensure the accuracy of a training simulation to empower motivated athletes the ability to train no matter where they are. VolleySim will train athletes to reach their potential and increase their level of play. Many players want extra practices, more coaching, and more help to improve, but at a point, the body must rest. VolleySim is designed to allow those athletes who crave more knowledge and more practice a way to practice reading the game, anytime, anywhere.

What is reading the game?
“The premiere skill is the ability to see and read the game.”- Hugh McCutcheon (former head coach of the US men's national volleyball team, the former head coach of the US women's national volleyball team, and the current head coach of the University of Minnesota's women's volleyball team)
"The importance of preparation, reading and anticipation over the actual contact can perhaps best be seen with these facts from the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The average USA player contacted the ball 17 times per set in the indoor games (44 times for beach). Both teams played 8 matches in their runs to the Gold Medal finals, averaging 4 sets per match. The average contact periods per skill [are] .10 sec for setting; .05 for passing; .01 seconds for hitting and .03 for blocking. So using an average contact time of .05 seconds, the average total time of CONTACT by a player through the entire Olympic games was 27.4 seconds." –John Kessel
Reading the game is the ability for you to see what is happening with the other team in terms of both court position and body position in order to anticipate a most likely course of action. This anticipation will allow you to move yourself and your body in the correct position prior to the ball even starting to move to your side of the court.
“Learn to anticipate, read the before and at contact actions, and remember the flow and tendencies under stress of opponents....and do it at the right place and time, the better we all will be.” –John Kessel (USA Volleyball’s Director of Sport Development, coaching since 1971 at the collegiate level or above, including Women’s U.S. Open titles in 1986 & 87. A sought after international lecturer, he has conducted 1-2 week seminars in all 50 states, and in over 30 Nations; In 1995, Volleyball Magazine’s special Centennial issue named him one of the 50 most important people in the sport in the past 100 years.)
